Abba star 'launching solo career with huge record deal'
Abba star Agnetha Faltskog is reportedly set to return to her solo career after the band enjoyed a huge revival in recent years.
Not that Abba has ever gone away of course – not with the likes of the Mamma Mia movies and stage musicals, and getting played at every night club or party worth going to.
But 2021 saw the Swedish four-piece reunite for new album Voyage, and a ground-breaking hologram concert open in London with the same name, shining a spotlight on Abba brighter than it had been in a long time.
Now Agnetha is seemingly ready to return to the spotlight even more, as she is seemingly relaunching her solo career with a major record deal.
The Sun reports that the 73-year-old has signed wth BMG, the same label boasting the likes of Kylie Minogue, amid Abba’s renewed success.
An insider source told the publication: ‘Agnetha loved being back in the studio with ABBA and it inspired her to relaunch her solo career.
‘She has been in regular contact for months with the team at BMG in London and they have helped develop her new sound.
‘After a long time working on new music, there is finally a body of work which she loves and which is ready for release.’
The release in question is reported to be released later this year, meaning there’s not long to wait should the rumours be true – and Agnetha herself appears to be teasing them.
SOS singer Agnetha has set up her own Instagram account separate to the abba account, which has already been verified and boasts over 24,000 followers.

And in a deliciously cryptic message, the one and only post on her page shows the words: ‘Where do we go from here?’
It’s not the first time the star has searched for success outside of Abba: in 1968, she released her debut, a self-titled album.
Decades later, she released album A in May 2013, and while neither reached the stratospheric success of Abba’s work, fans are already keen to see what’s in store for her next reported solo project.
It comes after the release of 2021’s Voyage, which was Abba’s first album of new material – ie not a greatest hits album – in a whopping 40 years.
The group reunited to the delight of fans after racking up massive fame in the 70s with hit tracks including Dancing Queen, Thank You For The Music and Voulez-Vous.
They first found success in Eurovision, winning the 1974 contest which was held in Brighton, England.
